So, I (Brad) spoke to a slightly older, more experienced authority on class reunions.
She's the sister of one of our classmates, and unlike us, their infinitely more "with it" class actually managed to put together a 10 year reunion. She pointed out that it was a single night, and when their 5 hours of time was up at the venue. . . they all went home. Unfortunately, that's barely enough time for 100+ people to 'reconnect'. For those degenerates that like to party a bit, they went home disappointed.
So, for they're 20 year reunion, they held a 2 night event, and it was very well received and liked.
- Night ONE: Everyone met for a bonfire party, brought a dish to pass, and BYO alcohol. This was the primary 'reconnect' event.
- Night TWO: More of a party. They booked Sam's Joint (Plainwell?). The cool part about that place is they don't have a charge for using their big room. The menu was fixed (chicken/beef/screw the vegetarians), and it was pay-as-you-binge alcohol.
This is by NO MEANS the way our reunion is going to go, it's just a suggestion. I do think that an additional advantage would be for a classmate who otherwise couldn't make a certain night can at least come to one or the other. Personally, I'll be voting for a three night marathon.
There is a poll function to the right side of the main page here. . . take a second to have your voice heard.
If you actually read this whole chapter. . . bless ya.
